A documentary = Reality ? FICTION?
Documentaries attempt to present a reflection on reality! Yet, the documentary has, at times, elements of fiction.
The word "literature" is used for the first time in 1929. However, the genre was born with the first film of the Lumière brothers in 1895. Following this awareness, American and European companies in the world sent operators worldwide who were responsible for filming images of everyday reality. The team here has the opportunity to interpret reality, to think and to reflect
and to explain their views.
As melodrama began experiencing a major
shift in the 50s with the advent of color and widescreen it offered new opportunities for staging, for new treatments of space and spectacular movements with cameras. As for color, far from providing realism, it has taken rather a symbolic value, except the color red that is universally known as symbolic of passion.
Melodrama has crossed the history of cinema and is present in all countries. Melodrama has its origins in the popular theater and literature. If melodrama is silent, even when supported by music, emotion is communicated by the acting. The emotion is expressed through body movements and gestures, spectacular and even exaggerated, through facial expressions such as crying and laughing uproariously.
Melodrama plays on contrasts and oppositions, for example, the city and the countryside, betrayal and loyalty, innocence and evil, jealousy and friendship, peace and social problems.
The plot of a film is a film a bit more complex, and is not homogeneous. It is broken down into three major styles, the gangster film, film noir and the thriller. All three elements are distinguished by their content and narrative structures. EX. Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) is well known for this type of movie of all three styles. He has left the investigation and the realism of the plot in favor of the staging of suspense.
Comedy laughs, sometimes by its refinement, sometimes by his rudeness, sometimes fleeing the problems of society, sometimes by the actor. There may be many ways in exploring comedy and the different styles, such as the Italian, the French, British comedies, comics and cinema.
